About Root Woman
Root woman came in winter as the magical little goddess, Baubo, in a story told by Clarissa Pinkola Estes in “Women Who Run With the Wolves”.
I spent the rest of that year looking at & photographing the barren winter trees. They had limbs, crotches and eye holes. I would play with them, look at them in parts, turn them up side down, side ways, right side up and they became—tree women.. A friend of mine referred to them as “root women” and that is what she became.
Root woman—sympathetic magic
Root woman is both talisman and work of art.
She brings good magic
Her rough & happy belly attracts luster
And a creative generous spirit.
Hers are dark nipple eyes twinkling while
Juicy jokes drip from her vulva lips
Fertile wild tree woman
Hearkens the end of winter
and returns light & luster to winter barren land.
